After months of work, and secretiveness (which is hard for me) I’m finally ready to launch my very first mini millinery collection, “Velocity”! I’m incredible happy with it and proud to have produced what I think turned out to be a really interesting and elegant collection of hats and fascinators. The collection was inspired by 1930’s car hood ornaments and incorporates motion, elegance, style and power in both design and color.
You can view the full collection in the Velocity gallery
The pieces will be available for sale via my Etsy store soon.
I have included the official press release below along with my contact details and I’d appreciate any feedback. If you know of anyone else who may be interested, please feel free to forward this to them.
Houston Designer Debuts 2011 Hat Collection “Velocity”
Award winning fashion designer Lindsay Halpin of Violet Peacock debuts her 2011 Fall/Winter millinery collection titled “Velocity” in June, 2011 via the website violetpeacock.com. The collection was inspired by 1930’s car hood ornaments and incorporates motion, elegance, style and power in both design and color.
Placing in the 2009 and 2010 Neal Hamil Agency’s contest the Little Black Dress Project, Ms. Halpin turned her attention to designing unique hats and fascinators that have a Brit-punk edge to them. Each piece of the Velocity collection is custom made and hand-sewn using hand-dyed feathers, imported Sinamay, crinoline and felt.
Ms. Halpin’s designs have been featured in Houston’s CultureMap, Houston Press, the Houston Vintage 2010 show, Hats Off to Houston charity auction, and Be An Angel charity auction. She was interviewed for a feature article on hats in the March 12, 2011 edition of the Houston Chronicle.
Individual consultations and design planning sessions can be arranged by contacting Lindsay via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
